Things are really bustling at the Witt’s End resort in Northern Minnesota. Clients are vying for one of the few remaining rentals, except Cabin 14—thing is—no one gets out of Cabin 14 alive.

Sadie isn't your typical sixty-four year old senior citizen. She has things she wants to do and shouldn't be expected to solve a murder while trying to prevent an unscrupulous sheriff’s deputy from shutting down the lakeside resort she owns with her straight arrow sister. But that’s exactly what Sadie Witt must do.

When five guests with hidden agendas arrive at Cabin 14, they’re stunned to learn that the flamboyant Sadie is their conduit to the hereafter. Clad in the latest fashion trends--fads typically reserved for those without sagging body parts--and sporting hairdos that make bystanders want to look away but can’t, Sadie realizes one of the guests has been murdered and must work against the clock to untangle the web and prevent further mayhem.

At Witt's End (A Sadie Witt Mystery Book 1) eBook Beth Solheim Reviews

I would like to say before I even begin the review that I loved the cover of this book. It was cozy, yet held a smell of mystery that just drew you immediately to begin the read. Good job.

Inside we meet two sisters, Sadie and Witt, both in their sixties they own and manange a resort in
Minnisota. I liked the sisters right from the start, they were spunky and fun, down-to-earth and real, well maybe one of them had a slight strange side about her, but that was the entire charm of the story. It seems Sadie has been chosen to be a death coach. What is that you ask? It's someone who helps dead people get to where they are suppose to go. Sound creepy? Well, maybe a little, but it truly spices up this outstanding read and keeps your interest peeked.

The ladies are having some other problems besides Sadie guiding dead people across to eternity, it seems a rather cruel man is trying to take their resort away from them and add to that a tragic accident that takes the life of a family, and turns out to be murder and well, you are on one high-rolling roller coaster ride of a read. Adventure, mystery, and even some giggles are coming your way.

I truly enjoyed this book. I experienced many emotions as I read it, from giggles to anger, sadness, wonder and that soft sigh when all turns out well. The local description is exception, I actually wanted to go there for a vacation, and the author brought each character totally to life.
Their personalities screamed from the pages, both good and bad, funny and serious, and by the end of the book you felt as if you knew each one. Great job.

I have to say this is one outstanding read. It has it all, humor, adventure, mystery and many twists and turns that will keep you wondering just how it will all turn out. Beth Solheim has a true winner on her hand with this book. I recommend it highly for those who want a great mystery that is not the norm. Well done, Ms. Solheim.
I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery along with lots of humor. The characters are interesting and fun. The plot keeps you wondering what's going to happen next and entertains you as well. I can't wait for the sequel to come out!
A nice concept an somewhat entertaining. Certainly not a book where you have to think but a perfect read for the cabin or beach
Sadie quickly reminded me of a slightly younger version of Janet Evanovich's Grandma Mazur (Stephanie Plum series) - except in At Witt's End Sadie is a principal character, not a minor one used simply for comic relief.

The characters are quirky, the pace is good, and I enjoyed the setting. If you're a fan of cozies I think you might like the Sadie Witt Mystery Series. I look forward to reading more about the happenings at Witt's End.
A delightful, fast read with memorable characters. Death coach Sadie Witt assists the newly departed who have missed crossing into the light due to unfinished business, as well as running Witt's End Resort with her sister Jane. All the characters (alive and otherwise) are well painted and engaging. Many have their own deep secrets that will keep the reader turning the pages and looking for answers. The plot is expertly woven and comes together in a way that makes you sit back and smile that "satisfied reader" smile.
I enjoy paranormal cozi's but don't enjoy those that drag on and on as this did. About 1/3 through I skipped to the end chapters as I suspected where it was leading and it was as I expected it would be. The twist is the concept of a "death coach". I found the characters flat and the story line predictable. I was hoping for some life in both but it was not forthcoming. Reminded me at times of the old Dukes of Hazzard TV series and the corrupt powers that be. There are just too many old story line concepts in this book that have been done ad nauseaum. If you enjoy paranormal cozi's you'll immediately recognize them. If you've never read a paranormal cozi you may enjoy this.
It took me a little while to get into the flow of this book. An initial statement would be made or you would be thrown into the middle of a conversation and then over the next paragraph or two everything that you had just witnessed would be explained. After a while, you begin to see that that is how Sadie is, she has history and since she knows what she is talking about, the reader better catch up before you miss anymore.

Sadie and her twin sister Jane, own Witt's End a resort in Pine Cone Landing, Minnesota. Everything would be nice and fine if the story ended there, but of course, the sisters have their challenges. The first being a local bully that is under the belief that the resort belongs to him since the twin's mother used her feminine wiles to finagle the property from his family and second, Witt's end is where crossers come as their in between place.

Sadie has a gift, she is a death coach and if she did not guide the spirits through their death decisions in the allotted time, the crossers would never realize their death potential. They would slip into oblivion.

Apparently, if a cross has unresolved issues they cannot cross. They first have to solve the problem that held them back from crossing in the first place and then decide if they want to go back through the light or go to the parallel world. All of this has to be completed within thirty days or they will fade away all together like campfire smoke and they would never see their loved ones again. The one catch is that they must return in someone else's light.

There is usually one death coach to an area, but after the death of a close friend, an unexpected new coach appears and it is up to Sadie to tutor and guide; and when the training is completed, the student will see a rainbow at midnight.

When I first started this book I was not so sure, but by the end, I loved the characters. This will probably be the typical three books to a series and then they are through, but I will continue to that end due to the sass of Sadie and the wonderful inhabitants of Witt's End.
